Social Responsibility

The J.Crew Paper Procurement Policy describes our commitment to responsible paper procurement. To ensure our practices are in line with our policy, we seek paper suppliers who share our commitment to environmental responsibility. We monitor the volume, recycled content and certified content of the paper that we purchase.

As a company with a considerable catalog presence, we recognize the environmental impact of the paper that we purchase. We are committed to buying paper that is harvested and manufactured responsibly.

Paper for our catalog represents approximately 60% of the overall paper we purchase as a company. We give preference to paper that is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). FSC certification helps to ensure that the paper we use comes from responsibly harvested and verified sources. Approximately 97% of the catalog paper we purchase is FSC certified.
We use the GreenBlue Institute’s Environmental Paper Assessment Tool (EPAT) to help evaluate the environmental performance of the paper mills that supply our catalog paper. EPAT is a fact-based evaluation tool that allows us to reliably evaluate and communicate with our catalog mills about their performance in areas including water and energy use, emissions and human health and safety.
