August 7, 2019After reading the reviews prior to make my purchase, I was surprised when these shorts arrived. They are way over. I am a true 34, but these are like 38s or something. They are advertised as “broken in”, but the H5017 I was sent were not. As other have noted, this is very heavy fabric. I hope to be able to return.

Great shorts, mislabeled size
November 9, 2018I have several pairs of J Crew shorts, all the same size. This pair must be mislabeled, as it is easily 2 sizes bigger than marked.

October 18, 2018I bought 2 pairs of these shorts at different times and purchased them both online. The first pair I got was the regular Khaki colored pair that fit great and didn't seem to shrink up after I had washed them. I noticed that they had a tighter fit in the thigh part of the shorts but it wasn't much to make a big deal over. Then I bought the olive/green looking pair and they fit fine when I first got them but after I had washed them they shrunk a lot. It was like I had a pair of skinny jeans and cut the legs to make them into shorts. The waist got slimmer as well. I went into a JCrew outlet store in Cincinnati and they told me everything is pre-shrunk. I have purchased several items from JCrew whether it be online or in the store and the shorts were the only thing I've ever purchased from there that did indeed shrink. I was going to try and return or exchange the shorts but had lost the receipt so I just gave them to the Salvation Army.

Navy color is the best.
October 8, 2018I live in a warm climate & beach community year round. The knee-length of these shorts, the quality, and the navy color is awesome. I have six pairs of navy Rivingtons. Very sturdy construction. We LAUGH at tourist guys wearing short-shorts. (some of the old snowbirds wear 4" corduroy OP's from the 70's and long white socks! WHITE legs, etc) Khaki, stone, and white legs don't go together, fyi! Plus, when you sit down in short shorts, well, it all hangs out. We don't want to see this. Please, no white socks and white tennis shoes, guys! Black is a very popular color with locals in Hawaii, especially in the evenings.
