7" snappy drawstring canvas short

Was excited to grab these shorts on clerance at my local J.Crew store. They look clean and simple and pair well with anything. Only problem is the pair I got are very loose. I try to pull the draw string as tight as possible but still find myself picking them up. Not an issue with a tucked in shirt but other wise can get a bit annoying. If I could do it again I would've gone with a Medium instead of large (i'm a size 36 in Jeans/Pants).

Bought these for my son to wear at the lake this summer—he left with them on and came home, still wearing them. He assures me that he wore other shorts in between, but I’m not so sure. He loves them and asked for a couple more pair. I think because of the length of the stride they are for someone of average height, and they’re perfect for us.

These are stiff and have an uncomfortable fit. The waist pulls down too much when moving around and especially when bending over. I think it is because the material is so stiff. They are a bit wide in the waist and the drawstring has to be constantly re-tightened. I am very dissatisfied with them.
